I would love to read a high-fantasy book where the protagonist's primary arc is about becoming wiser by going on a great journey full of obstacles. Even better if it is about a middle-aged or elderly protagonist, rather than the traditional coming of age story.
If this kind of information helps, some authors I really like are Tolkien, Le Guin and Pratchett.
