Does anyone have any book/ series recommendations that are kinda like the shadow and bone series that is appropriate for a 14 yr old girl to read who has kinda strict parents.

Also I like Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and Twilight.

One last thing I really liked Fourth wing but I had to stop reading because it was a little too inappropriate for me. So if you know any books like that, that don’t have that much inappropriate content please let me know.
    And thanks in advance!

The Midnight Queen Trilogy is great. Essentially female Harry Potter

Also the Temeraire Series might be a good shout

    2. I would suggest the Raven Cycle series, by Maggie Stiefvater. Fantasy, complex characters, and a bit of romance, I read it when I was about 15-16 and still love it.

Percy Jackson, the morganville vampires (I mean I read it when I was 10, it has like one sex scene but it’s not explicit- only mentions that they did it and goes no further) eragon, if you likes romance you might like the daughter of the moon goddess duology

    4. The Lunar Chronicles, which starts with *Cinder,* is clean other than some kissing and minor swearing. It is intended for a YA audience—but not a Spicy YA audience like some of the books that adults tend to read—definitely tamer than Twilight.

I have also gotten my niece who’s around your age addicted to mysteries. This a great point to explore the old Agatha Christie mysteries and then move on from there. She’s seriously obsessed, and you can come back after you are and I’ll suggest a lot more!

Rick Riordan’s books if you haven’t read them yet. Starting from Percy Jackson.
The Lunar Chronicles. The Hunger Games. The Maze Runner. Artemis Fowl. Girl Serpent Thorn. Delerium.

    6. *Private Owens: A George Owens Novel* is a war novel, but paintball, so it’s pretty clean. It’s got more of a historical fiction vibe though. For Medieval fantasy, I highly recommend the Ascendance series.

Here’s a list of my favorite books!!(I’m also 14 btw)

      Six of crows

      The cruel prince

      Daughter of smoke and bone

      A deadly education

      Divine rivals

      An Ember in the ashes

      We hunt the flame

The girl who fell beneath the sea

      Where the dark stands still.

Edit: some of these have s3x scenes but they’re more fade to black, and not explicit.

Chaos Walking trilogy – it is a very intense series and, if I recall correctly, there may be a bit of inappropriate language, but it’s head and shoulders above other YA fiction.

    9. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, the first books is Eragon.

There’s also Tamora Pierce, though she has a few fade to black scenes where romance is implied.

Finally, maybe try the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke.

I really enjoyed “Finding Sky”, “Stealing Phoenix”, “Calling Crystal” and so on by Joss Stirling when I was around that age. That would be fantasy romances.
She also wrote the struck series later which I equally enjoyed. (Young detective series, always with romance story) The peril series was also nice. (Fantasy romance)

My mother always read them along with me. We kind of became fans. There’s nothing inappropriate in there.

I think the Hunger Games were already mentioned. Definite recommendation.

Coming from Germany, I have to recommend Kerstin Gier’s Gem Trilogy (Ruby red, Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green) (time travel romance) and The Book of Dreams Trilogy (Dream A little dream, dream on, just dreaming). When I was in school, every girl in my class was super excited about these books.

She started another youth trilogy in 2021. (fantasy romance) But the third book is not even published in German and none of the books seem to be published in English yet.
She is great at capturing situational humour. The books are super funny and last Christmas I read the second book of her newest trilogy and was laughing harder than I have laughed in any other book I think. I’m 24 by now and both my mother and I still enjoy these trilogies very much. Also nothing inappropriate there.

Brandon Sanderson may be worth looking into. The Finak Empire is the first book of his Mistborn Era I trilogy.

His books are appropriate for all ages.

    12. Abarat series by Clive Barker

Witch & Wizard series by James Patterson

The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King

Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

If Twilight was okay then anything by Charlaine Harris should be okay. Sookie Stackhouse & Midnight, Texas.

Community, correct me if there’s more adult stuff than Twilight, please.

Dystopian books are always good! Hunger games, the maze runner, divergent, and the giver are all books I enjoyed!
