I'm looking to expand my reading a little bit. To give you a little background of what I like to read, I like adventurous and mystery books that grab you from the start until the end (I guess action-pack books) such authors as: Sherlock Holmes, Andy McDermott, Clive Cussler Fargo series and Sarah J. Maas (although her books are a bit long for my tastes).

What I am looking for is a magical adventure with a little mystery. Fantasy is okay.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

    1. Neverwhere by Neil Gaimon – an average accountant explores a magical underground London with high stakes

The Dresden Files – Harry Dresden is the only wizard you’ll find in the Chicago phone book. The series starts mostly as urban fantasy noir detective adventures, then grows into something more around books 4 and 5.

    2. The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett – fantasy about Imperial investigators with a Sherlock/Watson vibe
