What book is this?

It's a book about this girl who survives a hurricane. I read it in school when we did a unit in natural disasters. Things I can remember is her family had to drill holes into the floor of their house, she was swept out into sea, and she survives. I know it's not a lot to go on, but hopefully someone can help me find it.
