My favorite books aren't necessarily all over the place, but they do vary a lot. I mostly like books that are less than 300 pages, but I did just finish the Count of Monte Cristo last week, and it's easily in my top 10. I followed that up with Murder on the Orient Express, and I think I want to read something more modern next. My favorite book I've read this year was Piranesi. I do like fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm really reluctant to read most fantasy since my two favorites were GoT and Name of the Wind, and I don't want any more unfinished business. I was leaning towards reading East of Eden next, but I think with the weather change, I am wanting a lighter read. I don't know if any of that made sense. Bonus points if it is something typically available at the library.

Maybe Cloud Cuckoo Land? Literary, epic, some near-future sci-fi. Beautifully written and engrossing as hell. Not super light, though.
Perhaps {{Floating Hotel by Grace Curtis}}? Sci-fi, just under 300 pages, mysterious, set on a space ship hotel, standalone.
{{The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi}} is an adventurous standalone sci-fi. {{Starter Villain by John Scalzi}} is on my TBR.
If you like piranesi I’d highly recommend the 7 and a half deaths of Evelyn hardcastle.
