Please recommend a fun mystery/crime novel for someone who only reads nonfiction

I would like to gift my wife a novel this year. She does not read leisurely, mainly reading for her work.

She does enjoy and has read Agatha Christie’s work when she was younger. She also enjoyed the Knives Out movie “series”.

I am hoping to find a fun, easy-read, page-turner of a mystery. Clever is good, gore is not. Nothing too long. Bonus points if it has strong women.
