A few years ago I started reading TJR with “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” I then read “Daisy Jones and the Six” and loved it. I read “Carrie Soto is Back” when it first came out and LOVED it.
Recently I read a couple of books that felt similar in tone — “Mary Jane” by Jessica Anya Blau and “The Favorites” by Layne Fargo — and flew through both of them.
So it feels like there are two distinct settings here — ‘60s/‘70s Hollywood and music scene and professional sports. I loved the backdrop of these, but what I appreciated most was that they felt as though they could have actually happened.
I prefer a female protagonist (not a deal breaker at all) and could not get into TJR’s work pre-seven husbands. Any suggestions that fit either of these two settings?
