The Sun Also Rises is one of my all time favorites. I wouldn’t recommend to just anyone though. If I knew nothing about the reader I’d suggest starting with The Old Man and the Sea

I could never get into Hemingway. It’s not even just his cold rivers of stony prose really. I think it’s mostly the stoic masculinity of his narrators. Some people can appreciate that I’m sure but he was just never for me. Prepared to be convinced otherwise though.

Hemingway is so good that any one of his major works would do. You won’t regret reading any of them because they are all masterpiece.

I just read The Old Man and the Sea out loud with my teenage son, and he loved it. I read it years ago, but it was even better than I remembered.
