I remember watching and reading Coraline when I was younger, and after finishing _I am legend_ I’m kind of in the mood more a Coraline esq book that is not for children.
Maybe *Nothing But Blackened Teeth* by Cassandra Khaw? These friends go to a supposedly haunted house and quickly find out it is very haunted indeed. Like Coraline, they kind of end up in a weird world where everything is sinister (the house itself seems to be against them) and they have to figure out how to get past this one monster-esque person before they can get back to the real world. It’s pretty short, about 120 pages or so.
