I’ve only read his Mistborn books (and his middle grade books), so I can’t speak on a *best* place to start, but I really enjoyed Mistborn! I’d say you might as well start with that too, unless someone more knowledgeable than me has a better suggestion!

Depends on what you’re looking for
Sci-fi- Skyward
Super heroes- steelheart
Sci-fi/fantasy white room- The Frugal Wizards Handbook for Surviving Medieval England
The rest of these are part of his interconnected universe called the Cosmere
Epic Fantasy- Stormlight Archive
Dystopian- Mistborn: The Final Empire
Victorian/western action adventure- Alloy of Law (Mistborn era 2, era 1 not necessary to understand era 2)
Short story/novella- The Emperors Soul
Whimsical/pirates- Tress of the Emerald Sea
Sci-fi/fantasy action adventure- The Sunlit Man
Free- Warbreaker, it’s free on his website and you can download the pdf
There are recommended reading orders for the cosmere, but in general there is no wrong order (other than reading an individual series out is order of course) the recommended reading orders are mostly there to give you a better chance at catching crossovers and not spoiling certain reveals.
