i’m not quite sure how to expand on the title, but basically i’m talking about books i can finish in one sitting or if it’s long, let’s say, 2-3 days. for ideas, my favourite books are circe by madeline miller and babel by rf kuang. (little to no romance please).

A Monster Calls. Buy a physical copy of it because the drawings are incredible. I read it in less than two hours. It’s incredible.
theres so many great novellas that are physically short so easy to read.
But my favourite of that kind is the Rowland Sinclair series by Sulari Gentil, murder mystery series of 10 books set in 1930s Sydney, but also travels to London, Germany, and more. Has mentions of real people, real settings, and real contexts (like communism, molly houses in london, etc), but is so easy to read that I finish each of them in like, 48hrs most. Only downside is they do get pretty predictable.
If you like retellings of myths, The Shadow of Perseus is great, the myth of perseus from a realistic and feminist lense.
Becky Chambers, the two Monk and Robot novellas.
