Well as the title says. I’ve got back into reading recently after a few month hiatus and I’m wondering which one to delve into first.
To my knowledge I’ve heard these two are great reads but l’ve not read a book which is as lengthy as either of these.
I’m just wondering what are some things I should consider about either or before I dedicate to one of these great books
Yes, eventually l’ll read the other but it’s just l’m unsure which one to buy first:)

Both! I’d say the Count of Monte Cristo is an easier read. It’s fast paced and the few chapters that do seem slow are concise. Shogun is an wonderful book but there is a long section that delves into Japanese culture and slows down for a while and you have to power through it.
That said – I thought Count of Monte Cristo was a great story and I was excited for the build up and ending… Shogun on the other hand was a book that I didn’t want to end.
