I just finished The World of Yesterday by Stefan Zweig, which blew me away. His nearly century old awareness and wisdom was fascinating. That along with the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin has allowed me see history and humanity in a completely new way. They brought a vividness and personal voice that no textbook nor historical fiction has done for me. I’m looking for more of these firsthand accounts of brilliant people navigating the same relatable human experience in a different era. Ideally with good writing and wisdom like Franklin and Zweig.
I’ve also already read Meditations and Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman, which I enjoyed too.

Long Walk To Freedom, Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, is really good.
