I am currently going through a very huge reading slump going on for about 3-4 months. I can’t find any book that I find interesting to read. So I turned towards Reddit.
The main genre I read is murder mystery and crime but I am also into a little bit into fantasy. I loved Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children, Truth Or Die, Murder Games (I am pretty sure it goes by another name now), And Then There Where None, Crooked House, Murder on The Orient Express, She Lies in Wait, Harry Potter, and all of the Karen M Mc.Manus books.
I have tried the Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows series but it wasnt too good. I will also not try A Good Girls Guide to Murder or The Silent Patient due to it being too over hyped. Please suggest some good books for me. I would also prefer it to have no sexual content in it. Thank you.

I’ve had a few slumps over the past decade—some of them lengthy—and I often re-read old favorites. I wind up rediscovering some aspect, but because it’s familiar, it feels like less pressure.
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.
It’s a little mind- bending, stick with it through the first part, and then just when you think you get it, it twists. Nothing is what you think it is, right to the end.
Maybe try something completely out of the norm. It worked for me. I’m in like only fantasy. It can have romance, but I prefer fantasy. I was in a slump and got a hands-on hobby, so audiobooks became my goto. Specifically, the audiobook that got me out of the slump was As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes. I grew up on that movie. Westley was so dreamy, so hearing him narrate behind the scenes along with almost all the other cast was so nostalgic. It’s super wholesome and just a good read.
Onto fantasy mystery series:
Firebrand series starting with {Brimestone Bound by Helen Harper}. She is training to be a detective, and during her last placement, there are 2 murders she needs to solve. She needs to find the killer for her new mentor and… dun dun dun herself. Cute read. Not too cliche or corny but not Sherlock level of astuteness.

One of my favourite books is about crime as a “culture”:
“Siberian education” by Nicolai Lilin ( has follow up books ).
Crime related you could go with everything from Edward Bunker which is a guy that was a criminal for real and turned his life around with writing stories inspired by his life.
Other favourites of mine but a completely different genre: Ready player one ( quite corny simple story about a hunt in a game but loaded of nostalgia if you like the 80s) or Project Hail Mary which is an amazing scifi book about a mission to save human race from extinction
Couple of crime fiction books:
The Power of the Dog–Don Winslow
Heat 2–Michael Mann (sequel/prequel to the movie Heat)
Some Mystery authors I enjoy: Dorothy L Sayers (1920s and 1930s Britain), Tony Hillerman (Navajo Police), Dick Francis (Horse Industry), and Elizabeth Peters (Victorian Melodrama Pastiche set mostly in the Egyptian Archeology scene.)
My Sister, the Serial Killer got me out of a reading slump because it’s very quick. And also darkly funny.
Try:
Dick Francis, *For Kicks*, *Smokescreen*, and *Enquiry*. They are super compelling, high-concept, and so satisfying.
A bit slower but still fun: Dorothy Sayers, *Murder Must Advertise*.
I see you have Agatha Christie books on there. Do you want other Agatha Christie recs? She’s a favorite of mine. For example, I think the Tommy & Tuppence books are all wonderful, except the last one that had pretty bad continuity errors.
