I've read and listened to all three books in the altered carbon series and absolutely love them. I've also read Thin Air by the same Author. I've recently also read Stormblood by Jeremy Szal and loved it.
The things I've learned I like are that the book is in 1st person, is sci-fi/cyberpunk and has a badass hyper competent protagonist.

I am going to be honest, I’ve not found another author who mixes grit, scifi, and plot together quiet like Morgan.

However, the Bobiverse novels hit all the points you mentioned. They just have a lot less sex/grit and a lot more levity. I really enjoy them and the next novel for it comes out next month. It starts with “We Are Legion (We Are Bob)” It is about a hyper competent protagonist who gets turned into a Von Neumann probe.

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson is a classic of the cyberpunk genre. I can’t remember which person it is written in, but badass hyper competent protagonist it has in spades and an equally badass foe for the final showdown.

Not in first person, but a cast of hyper competent protagonists can be found in the Prefect series (the first book now titled “Aurora Rising” but was called “The Prefect” before it became a series). It is about . . .well they aren’t cops but they fill that role. They enforce vote rights, but in the democratic anarchy of the Glitter Band that is everything. Everyone uses implants to vote, all the time, on every issue. And there is great value in manipulating that in the ten thousand orbital habitats that each seek their own “perfect” society. More than that, some hyper intelligences see a way of using its infrastructure to their own ends. So, our elite protagonist must protect the Glitter Band as the very same constantly votes to limit them.
