I’ve decided to gift books to everyone this year, and I’ve been able to come up with good options for pretty much everyone except my father in law.
He’s one of the only conservatives on that side of the family but can be open to other perspectives (my spouse/his oldest and I are queer and very progressive, and he has gradually become far more supportive over the years).
I’d love to find a book that could educate him on social and/or environmental issues from a lens of justice and empathy rather than being blatantly red v. blue. I’m already putting Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer in the family Dirty Santa, but something with that tone/approach would fit what I’m looking for.
Post election, I’m just thinking that offering resources to expand knowledge and perspective is more productive than rehashing the same arguments, but everything on my reading list lately looks so “radical” I don’t think he’d give it a chance. First post here, hope I’ve formatted okay! <3
